Water treatment, without the homework assignment.

A few distinctions make the whole subject easier. Here is what the main treatment types are for and what matters when comparing an offer.

Better Water? That's Easy.

Start with the result you want.

Softening the water used around the home and treating drinking water at one tap are different jobs. HydroCrew's base package combines both.

Four terms you will run into.

Whole-home softener

Addresses hardness in water supplied to connected household plumbing.

Point-of-use RO

Treats drinking water at a particular tap, typically in the kitchen.

Carbon filtration

Can address particular taste, odor, or chemical-reduction goals depending on media and verified system.

Sediment filtration

Targets suspended particles; it is not a substitute for softening dissolved hardness minerals.

Local information helps. It does not replace every kind of test.

For public-water homes, local information can establish a starting point. Utility reports and a test at an individual tap answer different questions.

Compare the whole offer.

Before accepting a proposal, check the equipment, included work, ownership costs, total price, warranty, cancellation, and support terms.

You do not need to memorize any of that.

Your system. Your installed scope. Then you decide.
